About

The project

Tressyl is a one-person project, developed by a private individual in their spare time (Juste-Un-Gars on GitLab). It aims to replace Syncthing with the same kind of robust, self-hosted, end-to-end encrypted sync, but with a native app designed from the start for people who do not want a command line.

The name comes from tresse, French for braid: several devices interlaced, bound together by one identity.

Tressyl is pre-release software. There is nothing to download yet.

Licence

Tressyl is free software under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later (AGPL-3.0-or-later). You may use, study, change and share it under the terms of that licence.

The desktop app uses Slint, which is licensed under GPL-3.0-only, so the desktop app is distributed under version 3 of the AGPL.

The source code will be published with the first public release.

No warranty — keep backups

Tressyl is pre-release software that changes, moves and deletes files on all your devices: a bug, a wrong setting or a deletion made on one device can spread to the others. Keep your own backups of anything you care about.

Tressyl is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and its authors are not liable for any loss of data or other damage, to the extent permitted by law — see sections 15 and 16 of the AGPL-3.0.

Questions and bug reports

First look in the FAQ and the documentation. The GitLab repository will open with the first public release; questions and bug reports will then go through its issues.

There is no e-mail address and no contact form. Tressyl is a one-person project: there is no guaranteed response time.

Support the project

Tressyl is free, and will stay free. Donations help fund its development; they do not buy support or priority. You can make a donation with PayPal.
